The car has been off the road since 1988. It was originally a V-8 car, with a 3 speed manual transmission. It was originally sold at Phillpi Ford in Stayton Oregon in 1958. It currently does not have an engine or transmission.
The floorboards are rusty, but are repairable.
The Rear tailgate is extremely rust free, as is the rear cargo area.
The car came with a good hood, it is laying in the back of the cargo area.
Nice 70’s orange shag carpet on the tailgate will be the first thing to go. Yuck.
This wagon is a much better project to start with, and hope you all continue to follow along.
You made the best choice, glad you were able to stick with restoring a two-door wagon. What’s the story behind this new find? Did your friend locate it? Good luck!
This one looks much better! have a question you might be able to answer. Are the wipers on 58s electric or vacumm? And If so do you have a spare set-up you’d like to sell?
The windshield wipers on the ’58 are vacuum operated. I’ll have to look around and see if I have a spare unit to sell.
Ranch, what I’m really looking for is the piece of the cowl where the motor mounts and the arms that go from the motor to the wiper posts. If you still have your original wagon or the parts car one of them could easily provide the donor pieces. I’ll forward you an e-mail showing you its used to convert a 57 to electric, and of course it will also work on your 58.
hope you received my e-mail, if not let me know
